This is an interesting time for both the Big Northern and Fox Valley conferences. I think it's inevitable that Hampshire will join the FVC, giving 7 teams in each division given their growth and they are in the same district as Dundee-Crown and Jacobs. I also think it's inevitable that Burlington Central will follow suit at some point and join, perhaps when one of the existing FVC schools has to split into two (Huntley?)
This is going to leave the Big Northern in a bit of a spot. Have an odd number of teams for a while in anticipation of another defection? Or invite someone who doesn't really fit the mold of that conference and then risk being back in the same spot a couple years down the road if Burlington leaves.

Maybe the BNC will look a little further south for a new school or 2 if that happens. Hebron, South Beloit, or Rockford Christain are smaller than the normal BNC schools. They just might invade the NCIC for a school like Rock Falls. There has already been some nice rivalries in basketball in recent years with Winnebago/Rock Falls and Byron/Rock Falls. I know that next year Rock Falls and Winnebago play in football. Their size fits in with the BNC (3A/4A for football. 2A for basketball). Would be a good fit!

I've been hoping Rock Falls would join the Big Northern for a while now. I have a feeling the NCIC won't be around much longer if they can't get that sixth team. Rock Falls needs to make a move now before its to late.

Agree that this would be a great fit. Sounds like RF enrollment will stay under 700 for good. I also have a feeling that all of the NCIC Lincoln schools have their hands on the panic button and are looking. Just not a stable situation right now and no one wants to get left behind. The travel would be similar for them as it would in the NCIC, just Northeast instead of south!

Just a few others to consider: Polo, Amboy, Forreston.

I guess an option is to simply switch North Boone to the BNC-West and keep it at 11 schools.
